Silver Lake

Zach and I have had some fun adventures this fall. Last month we visited Silver Lake with his toddler Montessori class. He LOVES his class and his new friends. He gets so excited about putting on his "backback." My boy is super social and I feel bad that he doesn't have siblings yet. He really seems to be thriving in his class. And then I get to focus on the part time Dansko work and then when he gets home I get to be a full time mommy. One of his lady friends.
Some of his friends.
he already likes to go "off trail" like his Daddy.

Mommy and her favorite boy.

I love this picture.

Shabby Apple

Where has this website been? I love the designs at http://www.shabbyapple.com/. Check this site out. JJ said that I need/can get this dress. The dress designs are much more interesting and unique than what you find on other "modest" dress sites. And the quality looks much higher than Shade and Downeast. Now I just need to get Dansko to make sassy enough shoes to go with it!

Monday or Friday?

So crazy days are supposed to happen on Monday, right? The picture sums up my day. Those of you with more than 1 child probably think I am lame for thinking this is a mess, but I cleaned it all up an hour before this happened again. I thought I locked my keys in the car today and some random girl and the gym drove Zach and me home to get the second set and drove us back to the gym. They weren't in the car. They were on the floor in the room I took my class. I felt dumb. Luckily, Zach doesn't understand how scatterbrained his mama can be. I waited to long for nap time and so we skipped it and I ended up with a screaming child at bedtime. My house is a mess, there is laundry to fold, and all I want to do is watch season 5 of The Office that I rented yesterday. J.J. is in St. George tonight and I miss him. He keeps things put together so much better than I do. And why can't all my favorite girlfriends just move to Daybreak and all live on the same street?

This week, and especially today, I have been feeling not as unique as I used to think I was. Does anyone else start to click on other blogs through their friends blogs and learn about amazingly creative, talented, successful women and instead of feeling inspired, you just feel like crap? Today, I feel the need to start acting again, not just because I ache for the theatre, but because I want to have people come to my blog, learn about all the cool things I am doing, and feel like crap themselves.

Cookie Cutters...

Every since our redhead was born, his hair has been a major topic of conversation. Not just because it is red, but also because he was born with SO MUCH! Anyone who thinks babies with lots of hair in your belly gives you pregnancy heartburn is an old wives tale...a study conducted by Yale University and myself can prove you wrong. Subsequently, Zach has had 11 official haircuts to date. I got tired of looking at the terrible job I was doing to my poor kid so we started taking him to Cookie Cutters, the kids haircutting place close to home. He gets to sit in a car or firetruck, watch Elmo, and gets a sucker. Pretty rad, yes? Well, my beef with them is this, No matter what I tell them, they only seem to know ONE haircut. Please see below:

Zach before the first visit to Cookie Cutters:

About 3 weeks after his visit. This time I told them to cut it short.

His second visit to Cookie Cutters. Obviously not enjoying himself! I told them this time to trim the bottom but leave some length on top...

Okay, um...wait? This was shorter than the last time and crooked. Unfortunately, I didn't notice it was crooked until we had already left for Seattle for my sister's reception.

His hair here reminds me of Dumb and Dumber.

Before the most recent haircut. I loved his hair shaggy, but the sideburns and almost tail in the back were getting a little ridiculous. So JJ took him last week for a hair cut. Again, he told her to keep it longer on top and clean up the sides...

SERIOUSLY?

Toot My Own Horn

I don't want to "toot my own horn or anything," but I make I pretty good lookin' kid. I guess J.J. helped some too...That's all I really have to say about that.

Hiking at Brighton

I know, I have been terrible at blogging lately. We have had a very busy summer and I have loved spending so much time with JJ and Zach. Two weeks ago we drove up to Brighton ski resort and hiked up to one the reservoirs. It was so pretty and we had a blast running around eating grapes and those natural Cheetos puffs! I know I am admitting that I like to eat Cheetos puffs but since they are natural, they are totally good for you... Enjoy the pictures.

Almost looks like the northwest, yes?

Zach was a little busy for this family photo. It was a pretty perfect day.

Best Friend Time

This past week I got to spend some quality time with best friend Jaime. She lives in Manhattan and it has been a couple years since we have spent much time together. Is there anything better than spending time with someone who you know loves you no matter what? That has known you since you were an over dramatic teenager, seen you through all your major heartaches and bad choices? I love her perspective, her humor and her amazing ability to juggle 3 kids under 3 years old. And I would love to lure her away from the big city so I could have her closer for selfish reasons, but I completely understand her reasons for loving NYC. I am just glad that I have had some time with her and her sister/nanny, toddler, and the baby twins. Unfortunately, we have yet to take any pictures together.

On Thursday we went to the petting zoo at Thanksgiving Point. Zach enjoyed the Hogle Zoo much better when the animals were much father away and had glass separating them. We started things off with a visit to a baby cow that immediately licked Zach's face. He didn't like that much and it was all downhill from there...

Pony rides are very scary.
I tried to convince him otherwise, but it didn't work.

But the huge sink made it all better.

Jack attacking the snacks.

The 2 toddlers together was pretty funny. Doesn't he look like he is up to something? But the couple sitting behind us wasn't very amused.

Jaime, Ilene, Jack, Zach, and the twins. Lunch was definitely an adventure.

I took the 2 boys outside and their favorite part of the day was just pushing the empty strollers around. Seriously, this is more fun than a pony ride??

Earlier in the month we visited Seattle for my sister's reception. I didn't bring my camera so I have to add some pictures from my friend Caprene's camera. But these pictures my dad took and I just love how they turned out. Zach and the green northwest seem to mesh well.

I love his crusty faces he makes.

He looks so old to me in the picture!
